CHAPTER IV

On the Chapter IV, the landscape and urban structure  will be considered as the network generated new atmospheric and experience to the city. The renewable paper manufacture system is engaging on the existing medias such as urban typology of shop-house and also infrastructure. It can be described that this network is the enormous contemporary landscape and public spaces that will be transformed by the people to create different scenarios.

The project used the productive processes be a part of improving urban typology and quality of life while promote the economic of the community. The mapping shows the new connection to the city and also promote the different situation with unusual structure. For the network, it is divided as 3 steps including Collective, modified and new urban products and structures. This connection is not just give a temporal social impacts to provide the public spaces and improve life quality, yet it is also affect to the environments as reducing  pollution.

The collective is designed to be the different from today, it is not just a container that just standing at the pathway such that this Urban furniture provoke the usage of urban space to be public space that people can engage and interact with it to change the landscape. The machine lets people collect the recycle to the tree and the amount of the will gather be the shading provide and the clean energy can be generate to by exercise equipment at the Base.

01 - Paper Collector

In this step, the paper community will collect those recycle paper to modify. The system using the hanging conveyor system as the roof to publish the productive process along with be the shading for the community. For conveyor system, it divided to be 3 main lines which clarify the way to modify the recycle paper. There are including new paper, Joss paper and new products.

02 - Urban Typology

For the next scenario, it proposed The new chimney  to city. It is the fascinating way to turns ritual to be productive processes. The chimney has their own circle processes to collect the toxic ash from burning the Joss paper at the base. And transform to be the fertilizer to used for grow the plants on garden at  top. The Facade is made of the seed paper from the community which is not just a shading provide,  yet it is also increasing the green space to the city.

03A - New Economic Products

In this scenarios, according to the dramatic economic, the community produced the new economic products that made from the recycle paper to giving additional space for the shop house and improved the facilities inside the community. For the example; artificial facade, floor adding, new building and rooftop. Those new products are not just occurred and use at the paper community only, there can also expand to the other communities  to improve their standards.

03B - New Chimney

The project will not occur and affect in just a particular community area, yet it will be expand to the other spots in Bangkok or Country as the virus. The ultimate solution did not just aim to build the things that are aesthetic and elegant, yet the project proposed to generate and reorganize the productive processes. And published them to the public which people can engage and be a part of the processes. In the other words, the processes turn to be the enormous landscape that let people read and take a role on them as the fascinating journey to let people realizing the productive values in tangible way.

CHAPTER III

     According to CHAPTER II which providing the first step of solution to maintain the productive activity, bu it is not engaging the city and people strongly enough. Then, in CHAPTER III will be providing another path of solving. All productive processes  are published to the public that people can engage and be a part of the processes. In the other words,  the processes turn to be the landscape that let people read them as the journey in tangible way.

     As we know, Bangkok is opening spaces which can be the advantages to used them to clean itself.  The temporary urban structure are the waste storage and renewable manufacture which used the advantages of crafting and folding paper from Joss Paper community. There are 4 main process including; collecting used-paper, transforming and folding in community's working area, storage in forms of facade to provide shading and recycle processes. All this process is create the incredible landscape.

  "This ultimate solution is not just proposing to clean up and reorganize the spaces, yet it also maintains the unique of community and promote their economic".

CHAPTER II

According to today globalization is destroying the base of this ritual and make it becomes disappear, this project is proposing to bring this productive activity back by promote and evolve in term of physical product and also from urban environment in different scales. Moreover, the technology will be adapted to improve the quality and provide the better possibilities with engaging the city. However, the project realizes that if there already have the potential materials or existing systems, there are no reason to create the new one at all, yet the fascinating way is to push their potential quality as much as possible.

The main idea come up with the word ‘sustainable and ecology’ while maintain the traditional characteristic on exterior. Such that in the near future, the community and the ritual could be maintained along with developing through time with a clean energy processes as the ‘circle process’. It starts up with the community will create their own prototype without import paper or raw material from Chinese which technology can make it to be more unique and quality improved. Not just only the process have to be sustainable and clean energy, yet the product will also be organic without chemical as much as possible to produce a good condition and it should be recycle or reuse to make a ‘circle processes’

The 4 images is providing possibilities of development in different scales and moment. It aims to promote the community and ritual leads people to attach and enroll. While the diagram shows the connection and loop as the ‘circle processes’.

For the circle process, it start from the researching central on the community that involve and improve the quality of the paper in ecological way as much as possible then the sample product and method will be sent to the suburban factory to produce and export to the community, city and other region in Thailand. Product will  be modified at community. People can engage the productive process by cooperating to build sculpture for the coming festival. After the festival the high-quality ashes from burning will be recycled by transform it to be eco-fertilizer and be used to growth the plants as raw material.

Starting from the interior of community, the smallest scale which is the heart of joss paper community. The spaces was developed and fixed the facilities, infrastructure, architecture and organization. The extra programmes that are included; the laboratory, exhibition, learning central, hydroponic crops, hostel and plug-in storage. The programmes will occur on the existing building that are empty and some are on the additional floor in the vertical. Moreover, the project tries to give the possibility to adapt the high-efficiency sustainable system design by providing the rainwater harvesting, solar panel and fix the physical ventilation on shop house to provide the clean energy. The folding furniture on the street can be transform the spaces; on the working time will be table in term of commercial and off-working time will be the chair that provide the advantages in term of public for the people and community.

The raw material produce and transform on the Bangna district will provide lots of free spaces. All the process that occurred here are concerned on the sustainable, organic and clean energy. There are 6 different stations in here which have different roles with the sub-factories, workshop and storage. The first field is to plants the raw material that will be transform to the paper. Plants are used instead of trees because they are easier to growth , provide more oxygen and it can grow faster after cut. The plants consist of bamboo, sugarcane and rice. For the colours of the paper are made from the flowers and vegetables; Roselle, Pandan Leaves, Safflower, carrot and pea flowers. The ink is made of soybean oil. The packaging with the biology plastic made from corn. The recycle station will collect the used-paper from the city. All ingredients will be send to main station to collective and transform to be the organic-products.

The context around the community are changed according to the time, globalize and demand. The public transport will be provide more than now to reduce traffic jam and reduce pollution. So the sense of the urban around the community are changed to supporting the idea by increase size of the pathway and reduce size of the street to allow just public transport only to transit the people and to contain the products. Moreover, there are more concerning in sustainable energy and green spaces so that reduce the pollution and provide the good condition and atmospheric in that area and put the disturb visualize objects to the underground as the electric tower. However, the community itself are maintain their characteristics which gives a sense of hiding and not transform the form to be contemporary or attach the technology on exterior but yet the physical may be changing a bit in term of vertical to support more programs.

For the large public space in front of community is to be a part of the productive to promote community. There were a market to sell material or folding paper, temporary workshop on that area and performances. However, for the coming festival it engages the people and city on Chinatown to enroll as be a part to build the sculpture together. Aesthetic sculpture will be designed by the Artist with the unique paper of this community that can’t find from manufacturing processes.

The festival is not just about the engaging chinatown, yet it provides the economic for the community. The festival will occur on the front of the temples in several spots. It used the technology as drone to contain the sculpture to different places. In Chinese, to burn the paper is the last process to ensure the successive of ritual. The joss paper from the temple will collect at the base of the sculpture to be fuel and burn them in festival. On the festival time, the surrounding will changed to be colorful environment from night market selling the ritual-related sweet and paper craft skill, lamp and highlight -programme;burning sculpture. The fascinating festival that attract people to come and realize about ritual. According to the potential of the technology people can join this festival worldwide by using application tool to buy the electric paper and it will be include to be a part of festival. After burning process, the high quality ashes will be collect to transform to be fertilizer to send back to reuse on the growth the plants at raw material processes.

The technology is not only developed the quality of the products or improve the environment, yet it provide world-wide connection which community can work on it with the people that can engage from everywhere. Even if the technology are adapt to the community and the product to promote himself to outside-world, they are still maintain their characteristic and traditional while the surrounding context are changing along the time.

CHAPTER I

Joss Paper

Joss paper is not just a craft paper, yet it is a Chinese ritual-related goods. The purpose of this paper is to forcing people to do good by reminding the people that hell is really existing. Moreover, it provides more income for the local people. There is the biggest and unique joss paper community in Thailand called Charuengchai. Even if this place is precious, it gives a sense of hiding from outside-world plus it is combining between public space and interior. Today globalization is destroying the base of this ritual and make it becomes disappear.

From these reasons, this project is purposing to bring this productive activity back and promote it from reproduce, redesign and present it in a new way on an urban scale.
