WAVES: STEVE REICH - ALINEATE



Sine Steve Reich has a plenty of concert tour, mostly in United States and Europe. A container ship was rebuilt to use as a moving stage along the coast lines around the world. The 3 different performances of The Cave: Technical, Come out: Physical, and Sextet: Pure instruments. 








 




The project is designed the audience are able to see all the performances while  stay at the same spot throughout the show, only stages move to serve the audience. Circulation of the space start from the back of the ship flow through spread stages to the main stand seat at the front of the ship. Each stage moving to serve the audience by 3 cranes. The sequences of the stages start from left to right respectively.
The three stages create different atmosphere. Stage plot is changed differently along each performance, each show produce attractive movement as are shown in the diagrams, view from top. The performance are not only from three performances, the crane moving along the rail also demonstrate as a part of the performance to the audience on the ship and people at the coast side or river side.

MIDTERM



PERFORMER
Steve reich, was born in 1970s, Newyork, and raised up in California. He is a song composer who founded 3 musician, then develop to 18 musicians. Early work pieces are 'It's gonna rain' and 'Come out'. Followed by the tree tales, the cave, double sextet, and sextet. While his face is broke out from the body and vibrate to show inside works, as to support his concept of vibration, franentation, and repitation. 



SONG ANALYSIS
Sextet is compose of 5 parts differently (fast-modulate-slow-modulate-fast). Waves with 5 colors from top to bottom representively. Each part has piano and keyboard shown as middle size dots. The white little dots repetively for vibraphones. Long splash known as bow were played. 




NORWEGARIAN OPERA AND BALLET
The diagram shows main auditorium with vertical stage area. Building circulation, mostly on exterior, as public space. Other two sections diagrams, show soung reflective from the stage seat to  and perspective angle from seats to the stage. 



STORY BOARD 
Show what will happens from exterior to interior (out of space into the concert space). Movement and dense of audience drive the performamce. Also the stage is under control by the crane (crane show included). The crane is changing stage shape and position differently in each performance. Come out, The cave, and Sextet performance set list areange representively. 



SPACE DISIGN
The stage is lovate in the middle of Buddapest, Hungary. The performance compose
With 3 shows : Come out, The cave, and Sextet. These performance stunned everyone surrounding. Also steve reich song of 'different trains' demonstrate as street that drive people into the area of Steve reich Performance.

Steve Riech
Since he born in New York 1970 and raise up in California. He is a famouse composer since that time until now. He spent all his life with study and create great musics since he was young. Its gonna Rain and Com Out was the very first  successful music pieces. Follow up by The Cave, three tales, Four Organs, Different trians, Double Sextet, Sextet, and others. He compose the music with repetitaions of sound or notes, variations of instrument or human body and movements.  He broke himself for musics and music pieces raise him up to be Steve Reich at whole time.


 

Sextet
Music piece compose of 5 parts; Fast-Modulate-Slow-Modulate-Fast. Percussion instrument were select to played. Each part create amazing movement and sound.



Performance
Using as much as possible of auditorium constuction. The players changed the movement during the songs in specifil roles. Stage inspired from machanic and form of percussion instruments in the ssongs. 



Oslo Opera house, Norway.
Where art and music invite to take responsibilities to creat yourself. Where people could meet the nature and music at the same time. The main auditorium is the heart of Oslo operahouse. Well designed and contruct, each curve at the seat were calculated for the best reflect and absorb the sound.
