In this phase I chose the role of community leader of immagination community, Klongwan,which the NGO offer the money to develop the city
Context Summary
Klong Wan community is of the area that is
considered to have poor conditions. The economic and social is depressed. This place is located beside a dirty canal which
is at the end point of the city. Most population living in this area is
immigrants from different local. This is one of the reasons of the abandonment
of the government. Another reason is the location its nestled which is at the
end point or not even count as a part of the city, this leads to the lacking of
concerns of development. The atmospheric
of this community is not pleasant because of the odor from the canal and waste
from each house mixed. The unit of each living space is made of old metal sheet
and wood. They are much closed together which can look like one big house. For
the outsider it can consider as no free space for relax. With the flow of the
time, while more populations are increasing the less space they have. Offspring
are born with the same amount of space each family gets. No community service
to provide a lively and creative mind for children and no space for them to run
freely through the air. The poor condition can also make the children being
unhealthy and caught disease. People in the urban area see that the atmospheric
of the place makes a negative effect to the economics of the city, which leads
to the refusal to embrace Klong wan as a part of the city. Of the following
conditions this community needs fund in order to improve their standard living.
NGOs development, the
organization that rise fund to the poor condition community in order to raise
their living standard and help them having better knowledge and career to
maintain the good standard living. MR. Aaron one of the leader of the
organization has contact the leader of Klong wan community to talk about the
fund they would give. With the money they give it can improve all of the houses,
but still lack of the community area. MR. Aaron didn't give any other options but
money for the house improvement that build by using better material and said
that the funding is participatory.

Process/Method
As the leader of the community
who spends all life in this area and knows which thing is needed, the community
area is needed to be concerned also. Therefore, the idea of reducing the cost
from the housing units and use it as a fund to create public space in the area
is raised. Because of the place where they come from are different, the culture
is also different. The community area is one of the elements to make them
interact together and become one. Whether by using the area together or having
a community repairmen day to let them help each other improve their beloved
area. Even though, the fund for the participatory also needs to be distributing
equally. In order to know what community’s members want the leader will go
survey from every house in the community. By analyzing the request the thing other
than improving their house have 4 options, Community library, and sport area,
relax area, music, and school. The fund that NGO gave is not enough to build
everything. In order to get the best choice, everybody needs to vote. The
method is go explaining to each house by the diagram of what is going to be in
different choice and, also, the house that spend less cost that the first one
from the NGO. After explain to them they will have to vote in the next day to
allow them to consult with neighbor and family. The vote will be collected by
the leader in front of every house in order to get the entire vote and due to
the lack of space to gather every people in to one area. After getting the
vote, the result we will announce and send by letter to every house and will
send to NGO to ask them for the request. Moreover, the house will be built as a
half house (from the example of Quintar Monroy that builds in half in order to
reduce the cost). This may be the better way more than having only townhouse
with no space. The fund for participatory will be distributed equally to every
house and some will be kept for the repairmen of community services.
Of the following, the summary of the
method will be 1. Survey 2. Explain 3.Talk 4.Vote. Since the community’s
members are immigrants from different local the community area are the hope to
bring people interact and embrace each other freely as a family. In order to
get everybody involve to the space the democracy is raised. Not only community
space will encourage people to interact in certain way but what people interest
and their culture that can be shared is also the one factor that shapes the
space also.

| Promote developed community by advertising on billboard of news to let people know more about the community. Since no body tends to concerned about and pay attention, by presenting on the big news may help to promote the village |
This is the letter that will sent to NGO
To: Mr. Aaron
We are very appreciating the offer you give to us. Though, the community
needs more than to improving the house. As you can see from visiting our site
that our community doesn’t even have a space for 2 people walking path this
leads to the lack space for emergency accidents and relationship between
people. After I have been thinking and having a survey from our community
members, we have concluded we need community sports area to make people having
interactions between each other. But with the limit amount of fund we get, we
are having an idea to reduce the cost of housing unit instead.
