Singapore Safety vs Aesthetic

Singapore Safety vs Aesthetic

There has been an amendment about to pass in Singapore, allowing the apartment owners to be able to install window grilles for the safety of their children. Parents who live in high rise apartment or condominium are concern for their children’s safety, from which there has been many cases where kids had fallen from the window or balcony of their home. However, the management corporation deems that installing window grilles would ruin the aesthetic of the apartment complex. This opposing view has raise the question of safety versus aesthetic, which is more important? Of course many would answer that safety is more necessary. However, from the point of view of those who do not have children, installing grilles would not benefit them. Another question being ask is, does window grilles have to look distasteful? The theme of safety and aesthetic can be incorporated together. Vertical garden that sprout from the grilles can be the solution for this problem. An apartment complex which uses the window grilles for the purpose of safety and for going green. This apartment complex could be a project which pushes many agendas by the government of Singapore. One in which is, it encourages family to have kids and ensure them that their children would be safe. Secondly, having vertical garden as a sort of the facade, not only is aesthetically pleasing, but it helps with Singapore campaign of reducing carbon dioxide emission and their goal to become more environmental friendly. This would solve both the parents and management corporation concerns.
