Marketplaces : Market analysis

PHASE 1 MARKET ANALYSIS

After doing researches and going to the two Bangkok’s markets, I analyse and try to find one specific topics for each one of them. First « Les Halles » what’s interesting in this project is the limits that the architect Victor Baltard tried to erase with his covered streets and the very thin structure so we don’t really know if we are inside or outside. Then for the permanent market, Pak Khlong Talat flower market I focus on the little « shops » inside the market: a space into a space. How to create a place which is both private and public, a space which need to be open to interact with the customers and close to stock the flowers and stuff. Finally, the temporary market, Siam Gyspsy market, my focal point is the different layers we can see in this market namely: the shops of the market, the circulation of the market, the highway which is situated just above the shops, the railways, the BTS … and how all this is organise.
