-The Second Ground-

INDA Y4 - Studio, Instructor ; Patxi Martin
By Naphon Anantachina

The Site is located in the "no space" between highway junction.

Since Bangkok consist of  so much “hard-surfaces”, blocking rainwater to access the ground, causing “ground water displacement”.
Due to the fact that Bangkok is situated on top of a natural underground reservoir, and the city draws water from it causing the ground to slowly sink, as there is not enough water penetrating into the ground to replace water spent.

Metropolis such as Bangkok contains a large number of “no SPACE” due to large amount of highway in the city.
Highway intersection close to Klongtoei Port is one of the busiest highway in Bangkok, as it is where two large population concentration of Bangna, and Ramintra meet.
Being close to the port, results in a larger number of heavy trucks passing through.

 The project speculates on how the growth would be maximised, but at the same time allows sunlight and rain water to penetrate to the lowest point of the architecture

The project speculate on possible solutions, by;
      • Minimize building footprint, to touch the actual as little as possible by elevating the whole structure
      • Using existing infrastructure as a part of itself, blends and make use of nearby highway, and port
      • Establish a set of principle to guide the growth in a way that it would always allows Sunlight and Rainwater to penetrate the architecture on to the actual ground. "GUIDED GROWTH"
      • Introduce the idea of agriculture and livestock industries to be centralized in the city, in an urban scale, or might now be known as “Urban Farming”.
